Teaching scared texts correctly and appropriately in Religious Education is important for all Catholic Schools. It requires a knowledge and understanding of a variety of methods that demonstrate how to teach scripture. These methods are put into two categories; Liturgical and Educational. Liturgical focuses on teaching and showing how to be religious in a specific way, while educational methods focus on teaching people about religious (Moran, 1991). This website will present two methods on how to teach sacred texts, one is liturgical and the other educational. Berryman urges teachers to use storytelling and concrete and hands-on materials to engage each child through imagination (Carswell, 2010). Stead states that teaching the text rather than using it provides a practical and applicable model to the classroom (Carswell, 2010).
